Operation
"Zitadelle"
Summer, 1943
By Artist Vincent Wai
The Print depicts the Tiger I #S33 of SS-Pz.Rgt.2 Das Reich during Operation "Zitadelle". This German Tiger Tank is sometimes called the "Fortunate" or "Lucky" Tiger because it carried a personal marking of a Chinese letter "Fu" which means good fortune or luck. The character was written in an inverted manner and the Chinese word of inverted is "duo" and sounds the same as the Chinese word for "arrive". So for the word "Fu" inverted, it can be described as "Fu Duo" and sounds the same as "Fortune (or Luck) comes".
